Dublin’s historic Pearse Street Rail Station underwent significant renovations. The platform, common areas, seating areas, ticket booths, cafés and restaurants were all remodelled to improve the efficiency of the railway station and to modernise its interiors from an aesthetic perspective. A second entrance was also added to increase accessibility.
Our role was to design and provide robust solutions that would create a secure environment for the high volume of passengers while creating a clean and modern design. We developed a curved glass wall lining system with a spherical framing feature to accentuate the ticket booths. We clad the new lifts with glass and stainless steel and provided an extensive number of wall finishes, canopies, handrails and balustrades. Our greatest challenge was working while the station was still up and running.
We successfully installed all the requirements according to specification without obstructing the commuter traffic within the station through careful planning and coordination. The station now provides superior facilities for passengers and is equipped to accommodate a larger volume of passengers.
