The Bord Gáis Energy Theatre is an architectural masterpiece designed by Daniel Libeskind which features a 2,000-seat performing arts centre of over 45,000 m² with 114,000 m² of office and retail space. Situated in the middle of the Grand Canal Harbour development on the waterfront of the Dublin Docklands, this five-storey theatre stands as the prestigious centrepiece of this landmark project.
We developed a considerable amount of high performance, high quality metalwork and glazing for the project. For the internal façade of the theatre lobby area, we created slanted glazed screens, designed to withstand heavy crowd loads, and a freestanding stair structure with glass balustrades, fine timber treads and unique timber handrails. For the auditorium, we delivered back-lit bronze mesh panels for the front of the box seats and oxidised brass handrails and grabrails throughout the auditorium, a luxurious detail that helped create an opulent ambience. In the offices, we created contemporary glass and stainless steel balustrades along with other high quality features.
The Bord Gáis Energy Theatre and Offices won several prestigious awards for its stunning architectural design, remarkable engineering and sustainable building practices which has achieved international acclamation. We are very proud to have contributed to the success of this project and to deliver a range of solutions that were functional and aesthetic, supporting both the structure and the design.
